That is why you should have two dogs. Tie their tails together and it counteracts the running away forces.

Their dog is a Greyhound - they have squirrels running around in their back yard among other creatures.

Wildlife + Greyhound can = bolting doggie.

but don't forget to add that she's too lazy to challenge a gate. She'd see the squirrel and think "hey, SQUIRREL. Oh wait, door. I think I'll take a nap instead."
