How do I remove the bontrager "big earl" freehub body?

hopefully the picture loaded. See the thing on the right of the picture - apparently it needs to come off so I can get the freehub body off?


by the way - I think I copped this pic off the park tool website or maybe a sheldonbrown site- my freehub body still has this bit inside the body, which is still on the bike - by the way this is a 2004 Gary fisher kingfisher 2 - the wheel and hub are "big earl"

That picture depicts a partially-desassembled shimano freehub body. If your hub works the same way, there is a hollow bolt that holds the freehub to the hub shell. If this is the case, you'll need to remove the axle and insert a 10 or 12 mm allen key to remove this bolt. (It's right-hand thread)
