If I am not mistaken ( and I might be ) but don't you have to have a 29 Specific Front shock ? a 29 inch wheel won't fit into a shock made for a 26 inch wheel .

And several forks can be retroffitted to work on 29ers - including the Mavericks and older Manitou X-Verts. Hell Devin Lenz of Lenzsport created this wicked cool eccentric type of front hub and he runs a Fox 36 up front on his 5" full suspension 29er called the Behemoth - cool shiz if you ask me.

Bontrager Race Disc 29er wheels (and a stash of tires now)
Old XT front derailleur
New Old Stock SRAM 9.0 carbon composite rear derailleur
SRAM 9.0 grip shifters with ODI shorty lockon grips
Shimano LX cranks with two chainrings and a Race Face bashguard
Shimano XT 11-34 Cassette
Fizik Nisene saddle
Just need to replace the 73x121 shimano bb with a 73x118 and I'll be in great shape. The chainline is sligly off with the 121mm spindle.

I've got about an hour on the Univega road bike - and from that little ride I've determined it is too big and has to go. I never should have sold my Jamis Quest.
