Seems to me most people ride a 29er they don't go back.

He has a Fetish for shocks, or for one of his other, bike swapping activities.

If I am not mistaken ( and I might be ) but don't you have to have a 29 Specific Front shock ? a 29 inch wheel won't fit into a shock made for a 26 inch wheel .

A front shock is a Fork damnit! :mumble: :D

And several forks can be retroffitted to work on 29ers - including the Mavericks and older Manitou X-Verts. Hell Devin Lenz of Lenzsport created this wicked cool eccentric type of front hub and he runs a Fox 36 up front on his 5" full suspension 29er called the Behemoth - cool shiz if you ask me.

I think the question is NOT when will he buy one, but rather, how long will he keep it.

Yep - so who's the winner?

    Here's the set up:
    Small (16") Karate Monkey Frame
    FSA Orbit UF headset (silver)
    Thomson stem and post (silver)
    Salsa seatpost collar (silver)
Easton Scandium DH riser bars (silverish)
    Rock Shox Reba SL
2006 Avid Mechanical disc brakes with Speed Dial Ti levers (sweet!)
Bontrager Race Disc 29er wheels (and a stash of tires now)
    Old XT front derailleur
New Old Stock SRAM 9.0 carbon composite rear derailleur
SRAM 9.0 grip shifters with ODI shorty lockon grips
Shimano LX cranks with two chainrings and a Race Face bashguard
    Shimano XT 11-34 Cassette
    Fizik Nisene saddle

Just need to replace the 73x121 shimano bb with a 73x118 and I'll be in great shape. The chainline is sligly off with the 121mm spindle.

actually, it was bought before Nov 1st, if we want to be technical about it. but it took until now to get built up.

So far my KM ride time consists of about a total of a half hour.

I've got about an hour on the Univega road bike - and from that little ride I've determined it is too big and has to go. I never should have sold my Jamis Quest. :(
