BB is 1/3" lower than OE, has 3/4" increased travel in back, 1 1/4" increased travel in front, close to a 2" longer wheelbase, 2.5° slackened HT. 14.2"
165mm on mah trail and DH bikes. 170 on the HT. The difference is not material enough for me to buy a new crankset but if I was to get a new one for the HT, it would be 165 also.
Hard to quantify. Purely subjectively, I felt like I got a bit more bang for the buck power/efficiency-wise. Slightly more leverage? Less "spinny"? I just about always run a 34 tooth ring up front. Dunno. Curious to hear other's thoughts and/or more scientifically-driven ideas.
I think it's a mute point now most folk run massive cassettes TBH.
I run a 36T ring on all my mtbs. and no bigger than a 42t cassettes.
165mm cranks are definitely easier to spin (slightly) faster but that doesn't mean you have to, That's purely down to your gearing choice/gear selection.
I think my EVO 29" is 12.75" in LOW. Then high is 13.3" it does make a decent amount of friends will rocks while climbing in LOW if you aren't paying attention. 12.5" is probably gonna be too low in many situations would be my guess....
