You guys are right, that seat is such an eyesore... but it's also making me sore! The thing is pretty wide. I got bruises on the side of my thighs for some reason, I guess I been grippin it too tight. heheh

Brian, the seat hit my rear tire today when I did a drop, so I guess I'm going to look at some other options. Maybe I'll look for a small BMX seat, or try out the ones that were listed in the other thread I posted. But the bike is good! The clear plastic stuff I put on hasn't fallen off yet, and it has kept the cables from scuffing up the paint. Avy works well so far, I've been playing with the adjustments. Have the shock bolt set right at 6:00 for now. The wheelbase is loooooooooong.

Here are some shots from today (I'm the one in the TLD blue/yellow gear):

Soooo much stuff built up at Carlmont! I  the bike :D

Rotate it to like 3 o'clock to shorten the wheelbase, and yep figure out what you want to do for a seat, I have a cheapy WTB you can have if you want. Remember, you gotta measure the distance from the tire to the seat so it doesn't rub.

How do you change wheelbase????????????????????????????????????????
What do ya mean? It seems like the rear end moves back so far when I lowered the BB.. it's just like if you take out the rear shock and collapse the linkage plates so it is almost like you bottom it. The thing stretches out pretty far! I noticed it too when I was putting the bike on the roof rack, the rear wheel stuck out further than the tray.

I'll mess with the settings some more Brian. This might just have to do for now, seat is still tall!

correct me if I'm wrong but moving the shock doesn't effectively change the wheelbase it just moves the wheel to different parts of itsuspension path while at rest. it still will travel the same exact path no matter how the shock is mounted. it might seem like a different wheelbase at rest but when is your bike at rest without weight besides when your in the air. the only way to effectively change the wheel base would be changing the links or the location of the rear axle on the swingarm.

The bike is designed to sit in the sweet spot of the anti squat. If it's not in the right place it will either pedal like crap or brake like crap. It is not designed to have an adjustable wheel base. Adjustable HA, BB height, and travel is all you get. Using the axel path to change wheelbase is a no no. If you want to make it turn quicker drop the BB and the fork. Do the fork first... measure for min tire clearance. Then adj the BB so the lower link so it is about 1/4 inch-1/2 from the BB sitting static. Then adj your preload so the lower link sits at a 15-30 degree down angle from horizontal while sitting on the bike. My way of doing it is to put the bike in front of a mirror sit on it and look at the lower link. If the lower link is horizontal you need more preload. This should put the lower shock bolt at about 4 o'clock looking at the drive side.

You gotta remember its a shorter shock than a 02+ Disco, at that point the lower lonks will be way out. I've been told by Jan that there should be about 4mm between the bottom links and the BB, thats how I had it set in the first place. On a newer Disco that 4 o'clock puts the links in the same position as I set it at originally.

Honestly, Jan doesn't know how to set up these bikes.
He doesn't ride a disco and if you have ever checked out his Apoc, It's set up real funky.
Take Mikes advice!!!

I guess these frames aren't total pieces of crap. I wiped out on the new frame for the very first time last week, it rained and I decided to hit up Pacifica. Washed out close to the end of Boy Scout, and slammed the down tube into a tree. I've never heard a whack that loud before. But no scratches or dents.. *whew*

Aside from myself being sore, this was the other damage: http://www.msdhw.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=2246&stc=1

Don't worry, everything's going to be ok :thumb:

I finally threw on the stickers.. or rather, I had a friend do it since I'd put them on crooked. They didn't come out perfectly, but it's not bad. The one on the head tube is probably the furthest off. We didn't use the black background on one side Brian, since it was hard to match it up perfectly. But thank you once again for gettin them to me! Bike doesn't look naked now.

Now I just gotta ride the darn thing.. I'm thinkin rain or shine, I'll be in santa cruz tomorrow :thumb:

I could probably have them made for you, they are like $30 or $40 US for the complete set.

I'll have to call them first and see if they'll still do them for me. I don't think it will be a problem though. If we do it, we can do Paypal. I gotta find his # first.
