Northeast Monkies,

I might be attending a birthday party for a friend of mine in the Middlebury VT area Sunday 8/6...I'm considering driving up from Baltimore with my bike, so that I could do some riding on that Saturday, preferrably somewhere with a chairlift or freeride park. Even though I grew up in VT, I don't know the scene at all. Whiteface NY isn't out of the question either.

I'd be staying in Middlebury, so anywhere within 1.5 hours of there would be nice, maybe 2 (rules out Mt Snow and areas close to it). Killington is an easy drive from there, as is Stowe, Sugarbush, and Smugs would be doable if any of them run lifts for bikers.

Are there any events or races happening that weekend? Any recommendations on where to go? If I end up going, is anyone interested in meeting up to ride?

You are probably closer to K-mart, being in Middlebury and I am not sure the distance, but Bolton Valley does lift service every other weekend www.boltonvalley.com
But Whiteface is a good 1.5 hour away if you take the bridge and would be well worth the drive! www.whiteface.com

Thanks....yeah I'd rather not go to Killington but the drive is one of the easiest...

I've skied there a few times - LAMEST place in Vermont, by far, to ski.

I'd second (or third...whatever we're up to) a trip to Whiteface. Great place to ride!

Thank you for the responses guys...

Unfortunately it looks like I will not be making the VT trip after all....had some car trouble a couple of weeks ago, it's fixed but I don't know if I trust it over an 8 hour trip now.

I will keep Whiteface in mind for next year though!
