the only thing to worry about is the climbing. from where iron mtn crosses sr600 there's a gradual fire road descent then a big climb to get up to straight branch shelter, and another big climb to get up on top of the ridge. then another climb out of shaw gap back up to the ridge. at fs90, iron mtn trail is closed to bikes. follow the fire road to the right on a slight downhill to the first hairpin turn then back on iron mtn trail up and across feathercamp ridge. i would recommend making the left on the beech mtn trail to come out at the creeper trail at the straight branch parking lot. even though you cut out the end of the iron mtn trail it's just boring doubletrack at that point. the beech downhill is much better, rocks roots and logs. then take the creeper into damascus.
