Lake Tahoe (Need Advice)

I am thinking about coming out west this summer for vacation. Once of the places my friends and I are tossing around is Lake Tahoe. I have heard that there is some good biking there as well as things for non riders.

Please let me know what you monkeys think

Sweet come and I'll show you around. DH XC FR we have it all. More than a few riders live here so finding a place to crash should be easy too. Then we have Auburn Downieville and Reno to go ride within an hour of where I'm at in Truckee.

Tahoe is awesome. I would also suggest Whistler if you are making your way over to the west coast. There's tons of things to do there, and not just biking. :thumb:

I've been there the last two years in March for skiing. Lovely place and tons to do. Unfortunately I won't be able to make it out this year which sucks.
Lots of accomadations in the area. We stayed at a place called "Lake Village" on the Nevada side both years. I have friends who stayed at one of the RCI rental units on the California side this past summer and said it was also very nice.

My brother lives in Gardnerville, NV., just south of Reno. I've been out to ski wih him at Heavenly, Squaw, etc. but have never ridden out there.

:think: How can I get him on a bike?

South Lake Tahoe is a sweet little town. Lots of snowboarder/biker cool, and it borders (literally) to Stateline, NV, giving you access to casino life.

One place to stay, if you are hitting for only a few days, is the Lakeside Inn. A crappy place by casino standards, it is like a Taj Mahal for riders. Cheap accomodations, a cheap Mexican restaurant inside the place, and I find very friendly not swarmy people.

tahoe has some great places, and d-ville is close by too. we stayed for a week south of tahoe city, and aside from some nasty traffic sometimes at the intersection where the road from Truckee comes south into the lake, it was great. the rim trail was great, drunken bear was fun, mr toad's (and the spur we took off to armstrong) was great, and a ride we did in bowman lakes was really cool...the only ride which wasn't all that was the flume ride. very cool views once you get to the lake side of things, but a pretty dull, boring ride for most of it. i'd recommend skipping it.

Flume's scary if you are afraid of heights though. :eek:

I wouldn't mind going there again this summer, but may go to Billings to see a friend instead.
