Landis to leave OUCH
By VeloNews.com
Published: Nov. 17, 2009

Floyd Landis and the management company running the OUCH professional cycling team have agreed to end his contract a year early.

Landis and the Momentum Sports Group (MSG) announced Tuesday that they have mutually agreed to terminate his contract – originally slated to expire at the end of 2010 – releasing both sides from their respective obligations for the remainder of the 2009 and 2010 racing seasons.

"I wish to thank all of the sponsors for their support this year. I would also like to thank everyone at Momentum Sports Group," Landis said. "While I'm excited to pursue other opportunities, I will miss all of my teammates and everyone on staff."

Those opportunities, said Landis, include a hoped-for return to the European stage racing he’s missed since his two-year suspension for doping at the 2006 Tour de France. Landis returned to racing at the start of the 2009 season as a member of OUCH and has not enjoyed the level of success he saw before his ban.

According to a release issued by MSG on Tuesday, Landis told the team that he hopes to ride to ride “the longer, tougher stage races offered in Europe and internationally that better suit his strengths.”

The release went on to note that since the team will continue to focus on a domestic schedule, “MSG and Landis mutually agreed that it would be best for both parties to part ways at this time and allow Landis to seek a position with a team that could better accommodate his desires.”

Neither Landis nor the team mentioned if Landis is in discussions with other teams that might afford him the opportunities he hopes to pursue.

ninjaedit: i sense le sarcasm in thread title. :p
Nah, I'm serious. Lance said he would be willing to hire Landis and now Landis is out of his contract to pursue the European scene. I'm still waiting to see who the Chicken signs with

No I don't think so. The Shack is all about Armstrong and his bid to win the only rce that has ever really mattered, the Tour de France. I seriously doubt that Landis will be allowed back ever to the TdF.

ProTour requires you to field the team at other events though and Landis would be a good candidate to lead the team at the week long tours

Heck yes, if he was on-form then for sure. Stranger things have happened.
People welcomed Basso back, I say let Floyd shoot for the top again, I always did like him as a ride, waaay back to his privateer MTB days.

Just like I highly doubt they'll let Vino back at the Tour, but Astana will be there with Berto...

guess it could happen. i say the chicken signs with Astana
Really? Even though they wouldn't sign Kashekin because he was a "liability?" The Chicken was kicked out in the middle of a TdF, which is a lot worse, I think. Maybe just one of those per team... :)

But he never tested positive! I hope a big team gives him a shot because I think he can still win a Grand Tour

This may be true, but honestly is ASO going to let him in? They own a chunk of the Vuelta, so I doubt there, *maybe* the Giro? Lots of "pure climbing" next year. ToC is too flat...

He didn't test positive but he had one of the strongest odors for many years as a likely doper.....

if he can race the Giro and come out with clean tests then maybe ASO will let him in. the whole doping thing is so f'ed up it's not even funny. somehow someway they all need to have one test, one lab to do it at and one voice to make the decission clear. the ASO/UCI battle is getting tiresome, but doping in general is too.

you better be carefull, you may become guilty by just liking them!!
I know...if the UCI read my posts they would conduct a "random" test on me. Then my crack habit would be exposed! When my testosterone levels show up high, I'll admit my sex addiction :D
