Lever Position?

Recently stared riding a fine set of Maguras - snappy as all get out, and I can now brake well into turns but I'm bruising my knuckles when I really need to hit them...

I adjusted the lever position but now feel like they're hanging waaay out in the breeze, waiting to catch something or take a hit that'll end their little lives.

Where do you guys run your levers? What's technically the proper distance from the bars, or is all personal preference?

Looking for some insight - thanks for your thoughts.

I'm no pro, but for me (my preference) I like running my levers all the way to the grips. I find that I have less arm pump, and it prevents me from being a brake horr all the time... " I run the Formula Biancos"

I have mine set at appx 45deg and adjustd so that a complete 1 finger death grip doesn't smash my knuckles.
Exactly! I'm not sure of the angle, but I too run them so that a single finger emergency stop doesn't crush my knuckles. But I've got freakishly long fingers that can reach just about any lever in any position.
