I'm looking for a new light set of wheels with a 12mm rear hub for under 500 dollars? Any suggestions. Just trying to cut some weight off my bike.
This would be my first choice as well.Hopes laced to 721s.
OP wants $500 or less. MSRP on F&R hadleys is just over $400. That leaves just enough for the rims, but not enough for spokes.Hadleys or Hopes laced to WTB Dual Duty's.
care to back that up? do they leak oil and have bad electronics?Simply don't get a hope front. If you're on a budget get a WTB, DMR or some other lighter hub for the front. They are not rocket science anyway so what's the differance and if you are a fasion freak and want them the same colour you can later ano the front one to match the rear hope.
Simply hope front costs more than some of the cheaper hubs and the weight differance is minimal if any so why pay for it? Especialy if they are designed by the same guy who claims to have designed brakes in 2 days or sthcare to back that up? do they leak oil and have bad electronics?
Because they don't wobble around?? There's more to it than weight...Simply hope front costs more than some of the cheaper hubs and the weight differance is minimal if any so why pay for it? Especialy if they are designed by the same guy who claims to have designed brakes in 2 days or sth
Chainreactioncylces.com has almost any combo for under $400 delivered.
Hope/DT Swisscheese 5.1s under 2000g
Hope/DT Swisscheese 4.2s under 1800g
Yes, they don't but don't tell me that all cheaper hubs do? Like I've said it's not rocket science and there are many front hubs that are much cheaper than hope that do their job. Ie. my syncros (though they are not that light) or most of the cheaper hubs my friends use. Keep in mind that the OP is looking for sth under a certain budget.Because they don't wobble around?? DT Swiss wheels are not that bad. My 5.1s are still perfect, but I run higher pressures. My wifes 4.2s are still perfect too. DT Swiss rims are not for people who like to run lower pressures.
I'm one of those pissed owners. I've killed a 6.1 rim in around 1 week of riding on an insanely smooth trail (think aline) and not even one flat landing. At some point the tire decided that the rim isn't the place it wanted to be at the moment and took a hike on a lip of a jump. I still don't know how the hell my tube survived the landing.I've seen sets of the DT rims be completely done in a single hard DH run around here. Followed by some rabidly pissed owners.
