Littermag/Vitalmag/Whatevermag should be a real publication! I love Dirt, but Littermag is the next best thing and all it is is an internet site.

Anyway, Littermag becoming bigger and better is always a good thing!

e*thirteen is a separate entity from Evil bikes. Of course, there was a time when both "companies" shared employees, but now Kevin/Todd/Gabe have the helm of the Evil train.

Back on topic, GO LITTERMAG! :boss:

I think litter works because it's NOT a physical publication. Keep the overhead low, publishing quick and community buzzing.

Do you guys have a clue how big Vital Media Network is?

VitalBMX.com and VitalMX.com are some pretty big media sites.

I shall write a firefox greasemonkey script to strip the vitalMTB branding off and put littermag back, and we can carry on referring to it as that instead :D

pressing a pile of turds on glossy paper doesn't make it a "real publication"...

the old standard for media is assumed to be print publication and that comfy monopoly that print has enjoyed for hundreds or years has been permanently broken by the internet. that cushy attitude that print will always be king is exactly what is causing the entire foundation of print to crumble.

media is still media regardless of the medium through which it is mediated. just because it's online doesnt make it any less real and the sooner people accept this (ideally marketing managers, ad divisions, etc and consumers), the faster we can get on with real point: entertainment, editorials, and journalism.

I think what WhiteRaven was getting at is that it would be neat if he could read littermag while he's sat on the crapper :D

People like you are the reason I don't have a job anymore. :fie:

edit: Having worked at the crown jewel publishing company for nearly 10 years, I can't begin to describe how fast the collapse of print media happened. Not that I didn't see it coming, but I got cozy in my job and chose not to worry even though the signs were all around me. They've folded 6 mags in as many months and probably not done yet. I should have gotten out of print and online sooner, as things are not going to get better for the industry and I'm left with my dick flapping in the wind.

i dont think anyone could have predicted how fast the internet would change the way things were done and no revolution has ever been cozy and easy on everyone.

but none of that should confuse the act of journalism with the medium of print publication- the two are not inextricable. we still need journalism. we just need to let go of the idea that it has to be on paper to be legitimate or taken seriously.

vitalmx is awesome. This should be good for Litter.

I would think an online mag done right could make more money than a print mag. Obviously, there is less cost to deliver the product (no mail cost, printing cost, copies not sold, etc). In addition, it seems that advertizing effectiveness would be easier to track/prove to customers. I have always heard that print mags cost significantly more to print than the subscribed cost. Therefore, the staff must be paid with whatever advertizing dollars are left after substidizing the printing cost.

Anyway, congrats on the new deal.

There are forums on vitalbmx and vitalmx, are we all moving to vitalmtb forums?
