Have any monkeys flown overseas from the US or elsewhere for medical or dental care? Was it worth it?

Thoughts?

I need 2 bridges, considering implants.

You'll be in Europe later this year, right? See what you can make happen.

For ortopedic stuff I could recomend 2 clinics in Poland but dental. I will have to ask. Usually there are 1-2 top clinics in the country in any medical field which cost extreme for Polish people but are normal for most foreigners (3k$ for top of the line surgery by guys who operate on our national footbal team and dakar racers)

A coworker of mine from Chile figured out that to have 2 fillings replaced in the US he could have bought a round trip ticket and had his dentist in Santiago do the work.

Still had her penis?
No, but the scar was fresh.

Reminds me of a joke I read in playboy.

Girl walks up to a guy in a bar. "I haven't had a cock in two weeks."
Back at her house, he noticed the fresh surgical scars.

Ah...Ridemonkey. Ask a simple question and within 5 posts it's all about Thai hookers that just got their dick cut off.

Very popular with Swedes. Lasik, dental work, vanity, etc.......anything medical that isn't covered by the social system.

But then, everything is cheaper somewhere else than here. With the exception of salmon, salt, and snow.

The thing is unless I know someone RELIABLE who can reccommend a specific hospital/clinic here I wouldn't go there. I remember that boobjob scandal with a swedish citizen not so long ago. She went into a coma.
That being said two of my good friends have dentists in their families. I need to ask them.

I also remember a hospital being recommended to my by some of my mothers friends and by my mother. I ended in the worst cast possible. Ended paying for the surgery 2 days later.

I'll be in Wroclaw and all over Europe on tour in May, I'll ask around. I have a couple Polish friends I will see then. Going back later in the year for an actual vacation.

Wroclow is an amazing city. There is a small brewery called Spiz on the Square. Good beer and they serve pork fat on toast.......

Spiż is awesome. It is a bit of the tourist trap but I still like it. I like the city and I can even live with the fact that all Wroclavians are a bit smug about where they live. Strangely all my friends from there moved to Warsaw so I have no reason to go outside of one movie festival.

H8R biker friends or regular people? Are you planning to ride here? Have fun. PM me when you will be here since the festival is somewhere mid summer and I will probably go there so going for a beer might be a good option.

btw. I'm just curious but what drove you to Wroclaw?

Lots of Aussies go to Thailand for their cosmetic procedures. Book a couple of weeks holiday, do the tourist thing first few days, have procedure, recover and then go home and show everyone your photos from your "2 week holiday"

Otherwise medical procedures are usually done at home under this socialist hippy system called medicare. I don't recommend it myself because it means the terrorists have won.

I just got two ceramic fillings before leaving the US at a total of $270. That's without any insurance to cover the bills.

Who does your friend buy plane tickets from?

This could be a rhetorical question, but if you have health insurance why don't you have it done in the USA? I had health insurance when I had my wisdom teeth removed 3 years ago, but they would not cover the bill (I think it was $2000), because it was 'dental' work, even though they were causing me significant pain when I had them removed. Will your insurance provider not cover the work you want done?

It's possible that his procedure included a root canal. Honestly I don't recall all the details.

My mom and step dad had some dental work done in Mexico, it was cheap and the doc did quality work. Apparently it's a pretty popular thing to do down there.

As an FYI, implants are usually a 2-step process (surgery to put in the screw, another visit later to build the tooth after it has healed). That being said, it's STUPIDLY expensive here in the US, so I'd imagine that it might be cheaper to go overseas twice to have it done. You could also have the surgery here, and then have the teeth built overseas ($3k/per tooth?).

I still have 2 "baby" teeth in my mouth since there aren't any "adult" teeth behind them. So far, so good, but at some point I might need to have them replaced. *NOT* looking forward to that, so maybe dental tourism might be worthwhile for me as well...
