Minnewaska Plan Deadline For Comments 11/13
From Fats in the Cats:

For those of you who have been watching the development of the Minnewaska Master Plan, the wait is over.

The Draft Plan is out and includes the recommendation to allow 12 miles of singletrack in the Awosting Reserve section of the park. This is located between Lake Awosting and the town of Gardiner. The trails would be multi-use for mtn bikes, hikers and horses.

The plan calls for these trails to be developed with volunteer help (that means YOU) and names Fats in the Cats and GUMBA as groups that could be involved.

The cycling community is one of many user groups providing input into this plan. We will need many active cyclists to get involved as this plan moves thru the upcoming phases - Public Comment, the Final Plan, and then execution of the plan.

The next step in the process is the Public Comment period. A public meeting will be on October 22 at 7:00 on the SUNY New Paltz campus lecture hall 100. If you have any interest in riding singletrack at Lake Minnewaska in the future, please plan on attending and providing your comments about cycling opportunities at Minnewaska. Written comments on the plan are also a good way to get involved.
