Any of you monkies been there? How is the riding in mid-March? Worth a 15 hour drive? Just looking for any info or pics you would like to share?
thanks for the new background.justsomeguy said:Stay away. It's a really horrible place.
The 4x4s and motos have been there *MUCH* longer than the mt bikers.blue said:Froooota. Moab's been overrun with retards in large automobiles and ATVs. There used to be some good riding there, but much has been destroyed.
was gonna say that myself.SkaredShtles said:The 4x4s and motos have been there *MUCH* longer than the mt bikers.
The wash proper in Bartlett sees a bit of 4x4 traffic - although the sandiness can be heinous down there.narlus said:was gonna say that myself.
plus, not too many trucks/cars are gonna be crowding bartlett or tusher...
I can't think of one of the "popular" touron routes that's been destroyed by autos or ATVs. The Amasa climb was torn up for utility access but wasn't destroyed, just changed.blue said:Froooota. I've found the best riding happens when you hook up with a friendly, knowledgable local and ride stuff that isn't ina ny of the guide books or on any of the maps...
...and Tim sure likes the real stuff that's been imported past the Zion curtain.scrublover said:it also helps if you buy them beer.
What trails specifically are you talking about?blue said:Oh come now, Moab's a 45 min drive to the CO border...you know...where the suds flow freely.
It's true that the hicks have been there longer, but many of the trails constructed by and for mtb use in the past 2 decades have been overrun and significantly altered/destroyed.
Gemini, Porky, and Amasa all existed before mt bikes were invented.blue said:Gemini, Porky, Sovereign, portions of Amassa...
Closer to SLC and with plenty of good XC riding is Vernal, UT. Then again, it may not be extreeeem enough for many of the testosterone-crazed.blue said:Oh come now, Moab's a 45 min drive to the CO border
