Here. Spent yesterday working on the kart then driving around from multiple Harbor Freight's to Lowes to Home Depot sorting out a toolset for my BIL. Busy today, but not bad.

oh, did you visit my mountain house's neighborhood recently?

That’s what made me think of it! (I lived in Tabernash for a season in ‘97, brutal)

Upon closer inspection once I got to work, I discovered what the weird sound coming from my bike is:

I knew it was rusted out and on its last legs, but I thought the BB would go out first... I guess it served me well enough? year-round commuter since 2017. I will definitely spray the inside of whatever new bike I get with Rust Check though...

"Disc extrusion at L4/5 impinges on the transiting right L5 nerve and contacts the transiting right S1 nerve roots."

I'm no radiologist like @Toshi, but sounds like i might be fckd (again).

The thing is that a large proportion of asymptomatic people your age have nigh identical disc extrusions at this level or L5-S1 (even more common).

so it may be the problem. Or may not. Try as much PT as you can first imo.

At this point I can't stand or sit for more than about 5 minutes, so I'm currently relegated to being prone all the time. Which, if I'm honest, is no way to live.

Have you tried a so-called (i think) epidural for some short term relief? Pretty amazing short term fix for me back in the day.

I am also 10 years post back surgery, best fucking thing I ever did. Minimally and invasive out patient procedure. A snip here a snip there. I still have the occasional “back soreness,” but never “living is misery” level pain like before surgery…

I'm about 12y out from my 1st go-round, with similar experience. Until about a week ago.

I have supplemental injury insurance that pays me to hurt myself. Ignoring tax implications I will make money on healthcare this year. My out of pocket expenses, including paycheck deductions is about $610, I should get paid $650, $300 for a dislocation, $300 for a fracture and $50 for physical therapy visit. My job does kind of suck, but at least the benefits are good.

Good Lord do I wish this had been a thing the year I got hit.

On the flip side, I HIGHLY recommend supplemental illness insurance. Cancer paid off the mortgage on the last house, only cost me a testicle.

I pay for the supplemental illness too. Also short and long term disability. Seems like a no brainer for someone who does their own stunts.

I go to the Community Center. I pull elderly folks around the pool. It has done wonders on my back. I have found it rather enriching. I get free membership for my efforts. Access to the Kosher Cafeteria is also pretty cool.
