That was pretty cool. It is strange seeing the inner gears actually shift....definately different experience than looking at a diagram.

if you click on the movie at the end when it asks you to the briefly show two earlier renditions before the current model.

Ugh I am tired....I need to go to bed. Good night everyone.

Awesome, thanks for the link. It was great seeing how the system worked after reading about it...pictures just don't do it justice on watching it actually work.

basically what he said was that it is a really fancy upside down internal derailleur inside a box.

There is a lot of commercial in what the guy in the film says. Besides what you can see inside the box (that is what he explains), he is talking a lot about that it is easy and trouble free. I do not think he says much we do not already know.......
I can translate the text, but only if the IT guys can not get some kind of translater to work...

so:

- you can change gear without pedalling
- chain will not drop off
- you do not get water in your gearbox (so what ?)
- you do not smash your rear derailure

That is approx what he is saying...

cool!

remember those old Ross 10speeds that kept the front chainring spinning while you coasted? those were made to change gears while not pedalling...i think that's a sick ass concept for DH.

as for no water in it, i think if you have a gear box like that, you probably don't want crap like water and dirt getting inside. i don't think the video was comparing it to getting a normal derailleur wet. i guess, however, there's less wear and tear on parts w/o the elements taking their toll on stuff.

did you see the other videos? list here:

well it looks just like a deraileur to me. just the main chainrings really close to where the shiftings goin on. a good idea imo keep evrything away from the elements and one less thing to slap. prolly doesnt weigh much more eoither

You certainly can't sneak up on anyone riding that bike. Sounds like a monkey shaking a can of nuts and bolts.

Looks really cool though :thumb:

Seriously though I thought that thing was supposed to use oscillators and all kinds of crazy shayt and be basically a CVT. They just moved the rear cogs to the middle. wooptidoo. No more mud on my cassette.

Was checking out that vid again. DAMN! Bet the rider needed ear plugs to ride that bike! Maybe I'm weird, but I think there's something to a nice quiet running bike.

No it's not weird. I demand that from my bike to. No sqeeky sounds .

But the sounds come from the top of the gearbox..it's open there, and that what's making the noise. If they could close it with some lid. It would not be so loud i geuss. Mabey it's hard to make it for those gearboxes. Well i should leave that up to the technicians.
