Here's some stuff I at least like... Maybe other people will agree.

Billy Talent
Rise Against
The Darkness
Lost Prophets
Wolfmother (and other `oldies`)

There's a lot more out there, some rap wouldn't be so bad, just keep it loud, keep it alive, and don't, please don't play country, or that music you hear in the grocery store (haha).

I don't like rap to much either, but if other people like it, then I say hey, whatever floats your boat.

Best of luck, I'm sure whatever you do, it will go great.

Music like slayer doesn't keep things moving first of all... Not too hardcore of stuff.

Here's a few more...
Beastie Boys-This is great for a sesh environment, even if they aren't all that great, it's in between those who like rap and those who like rock

Black Sabbath-Paranoid
Burning Brides-Heart full of black
Ramones-Not many people that don't like them
-My Brain is hanging upside down, I wanna be sedated,
Blitzkrieg Bop
Modest mouse-Dashboard
The Fratellis-Flathead
Queen-Rock you like a hurricane-who doesn't like that?
The Donnas-Dancing with myself- This one might be a longshot?
Guns N' Roses
Bloc Party-Helicopter-Definetly has some enegery
The Killers
Iron Maiden

sorry, forgot, haha. The darkness is pretty sweet to, even though I don't think they are from the 80's, they have music like it. Can you PM me some 80's rock bands or just list some here?

Thanks if you have the time.

The Darkness is more of a parody of 80's AOR, even so, I don't think there was anything quite that gay during the 80's.

Well, maybe Billy Squire...
