Okay, so I am the first to admit that this is the most beat looking frame ever. And, yes, I know that the brake cables are too long.
Back to the point- the bike has been great for the past 1.5 seasons or so I've had it. Didn't ride much last year, but I'm ready this year.
New fork, brakes, wheels, cranks, rear derailleur, saddle and stem. I may change the stem for something longer and swap the rear spring for a softer one. Fork feels great already. Tires will be swapped for something wider and pedals for clipless when I hit the mountains.
Bottom Bracket sits around 13.5-6" with fork at full travel and small tires on there. Geo is way off stock because of a shorter shock (came with a 9.5x3 Progressive, now using an 8.75x2.75 Push tuned Fox RC off my old Tomac). I ran it like this most of last year and it was good. Low, maybe a tad too slack (gotta be careful with sag, fork height, etc), but lots of fun.
Using the bathroom scale method, weight is 39lbs. That seems a bit lighter than it should be to me, but who knows. Heavier tires will add some, but weight could easily be subtracted with a different rear hub (XT disc on there now, ran a 12x135 Ringle last year), lighter saddle (OEM cro mo on there now) and cranks ('06 Gravity Gap) would be quick fixes.
See you guys at Diablo!
