AT LONG LAST - the new bike is in. It is the very last single pivot Splinter MX ever made. It is a large, but FTW lowered the standover for me and put a cross brace on it so that I can still pedal. It has a straight tube setup more like the prototype than the CnC work of the production Splinter. It also has a smaller diameter seat post (26.8 instead of 30) to allow easier adjustments. In effect, a one-off custom from the man himself. (THANKS FRANK!!!!! )
The build is taken straight off a 2005 Session 77, with the exception of the seatpost (Thomson).
This is my first suspended bike, and actually the only MTB I have owned aside from the 1988 or 89 Novara Ponderosa rigid that I have been riding steadily since it was new. A bit of an upgrade, I'd say.
Not the greatest photo, but without a doubt the greatest bike I have ever owned.
