Here's my ol' trusty Kona Firemountain turned into a rigid single speed. The gear ration is 36:17 wich make the chain fit perfectly.
Rear brake:Avid sd 7, xt lever. Odessey Slic Kable
XT front
DMR Wingbar and S&M Redneck
Gusset Pigmy cranks, DMR sprocket, GT pedals.
DMR Dirt Jump saddle

I made som ghetto helmetlights out of tomats paste cans and regular halogen spots (20+50watts) and fitted that and a tripod with my compact camera on my dirtlid with zipties. The battery is 12 volts.

Video from my recent niteride. Nothing special just 4 minutes of rigid fun. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=2017893209136342913

Living the dream.
Nicely done. I do think though that the video was better when you were right behind the other bike, otherwise it looked a little too "Blair Witch Project" to me. I've thought about taking my helmet cam out for a night ride but haven't done it yet, now I know what it'll look like.

I was riding at the edge of a, well not cliff, but it's a very steep 30 foot drop down to a lake.

It's not sparks but drops pf water and mud.

The other rider is kinda slow so I always end up riding in the front.

You need at least 50 watts to get usuable film.

Good. Nite rides are fun. I'm from Denmark so I don't know if you have the same size halogen bulbs and tomato paste cans in the US. Here the halogen spots are 50 mm (2 inches) in diameter. That fits perfectly into a plastic plumbing pipe. For battery I have used the battery from a 12 volt screwing machine. The lamp is dirt cheap.

You can even use af coke can, it's not very solid, though.:

Here's a video on my Bullit with a 20 watt lamp. Not enough.

Here's a niteride on my Gimp with 50 watt lamp. Could use more light, but ok.

Sweet! I am pretty interested in how you got your light setup. I need to do a light setup. How long does your charge last? Also, what music did you have playing with your video? I dig it.

The music is Eels "Souljacker".
Well it all depends. Off course with a 20 watt bulb the charge will last significantly longer than with 50. With the screwdriver battery the 20 watt which is great it should be almost 2 hours (50 watts maybe 20 minutes) , with the big battery in the picture 20 watts should last around 4 hours. Feel free to ask if you have any questions. Niteriding is a great experience.

Homemade charger using the charger from the screwdriver.

Thanks, I may have to pick your brain in awhile. I just signed up for my first 24 hour race and I am on a limited budget! I'd probably carry a carry battery if it saved me $$$!
