Gold isn't my thing, either. The chainwheel would have to match the overall theme for the bike.

Man, I wish I still had photos of the Diamondback prototype I shot. I used "gold chrome" as a base for the gold metal flake clear coat. It was pimptastic. Those would look perfect.

Throw those cranks on a Vicious Cycles Single Speed - they can probably paint the frame to match or complement those colors quite nicely.
