So I didn't have a lot of bank for this build as it was my 3rd bike. At the time my girlfriend would have killed me if she found out I was building a new bike. hehe So I basically got one of those motobecane 29er frames selling for $120 on ebay. Sure it's the same price as the Zion but it's also 3.8 lbs and the geometry is basically that of the gary fischer 29ers. Here are the specs and the final cost of the build:

Motobecane frame (I did powder coat it for $120 more, it was so cheap why not?)

XT cranks
Chris King headset
Carbon monkeylite bar
XT shifters
Avid 7 brakes
XT crank set w/BB
SPD pedals
Lock on grips
Reba Race with poplock
XT cassette
WTB Speed Disk rims on bontrager hubs
XTR read deraileur
XT front derailluer
Thompson stem
Thompson seat post
Salsa seat clamp

all for $700. I know, right?

Here's a pick mid-build sans cranks. Yeah, it took me about a week to get the new crankset. I coasted it downhill many many times. :)

I have some pics over at www.singletrackminded.com

I love the powdercoat color! You had that done locally? I envy the Utility Yellow.

$700 is a steal for that ride. Your build's specs are great!
I bought the Fantom 29er pro for $200 more and love every minute on the bike. I await the Fantom 29er Ti to come out in November. I hope the frame is another insanely low price. That would be quite a frame to build on, too.

Careful. Looks like you picked the same color as the free "universal" bikes that they leave on street corners in large cities.
