True... maybe when the Bank of America take-over is complete I'll be on the "toshi" plan...
bank of america varies widely between states. until may of this year my parents, who live in oregon, couldn't do online banking at all, even though washington and idaho have had it for quite some time... my point being that bank o' america may well put pennsylvania on the same ghetto plan that oregon was offered until recently

You want to avoid the yak in line writing a check for 2.97 worth of groceries move to NYC. You would be laughed at if you pulled out a check book to pay for anything in the Big rotten Apple, except bills.

Had a quintessential NY moment when paying for something with my debit card not long ago. The previously bored and disinterested cashier looked at my bank card and said: "Chase? You must be rich." I knew exactly what he meant and felt a fool that I'd not taken steps I'd been thinking of daily for too long to get the helloutta that fee-slapping anti-CS bank. Fees for using the ATM, fees to use the teller, minimal balance fees, transaction fees. I think my statement last month included a fee for sneezing at the ATM. (Yes, of course I covered my mouth and used a hankey but they still fee'ed me.) So the cashier and I start discussing the topic like we're best friends when the next customer lines up behind me. She overhears the conversation and chimes in about how great her new bank is. (She was extra-excited about it because her previous bank was the same as mine. grumble.) The two of them get in a tussle over which bank I should switch to. One would interrupt the other asking what my average balance is, do I have auto-deposit, how many bills do I pay monthly, then they'd get back into it as to why their bank would suit my needs better and more cost effetively than the other.

It's nice people care. :D
