Basically that's all i'm looking for, any help in directing me to decent build would be much appreciated. I've heard good things about cannondale and specialized and that's about it! I'm in Chicago, so naturally there are basically 0 downhillers here, hopefully moving to cali soon so, plz keep that in mind too. I'm 6'2'' 215 and inseam of about 33. Thanks!!

Well at least give us this info...
I assume you ride already (MTB)
When you do ride, do you ride "lite", or tend to plow through things?
Do you have any BMX background? (ie you are good at jumps)

If you 'plow", Id look at VPP's like the Santacruz V-10 or an old intense M3
If you ride "lite", the specialized might be nice.
More middle of the road? Maybe a Turner DHR (the older non DW-link ones would be in your price range).

If you ever plan on actually pedaling to the top of your downhill, Id look at maybe something more in the 7in travel range like a Ironhorse 7point.
