Been advised to move this post to here...

Can anyone tell me whats the ideal chainring set up for all the NS and downhilling at whistler.

Is a single ring set up ok and what size, or do you need to run a small gear on your rig.

I posted a similar topic in the lounge about this but didn't get too many replies, I'm still just not sure about the best set up....

For Whistler I use my DH bike that has a 40t up front w/ chainguide. Basically bring what you got - you are going downhill. You'll see just about every kind of setup up there.

at whistler big is fine, for the ns you will want smaller to pedal, I run a 38 on my dh bike and ride the ns, push up more of fromme than ride though, other mts you can shuttle.

38 is also plenty big for whistler for me, even 32 would prolly be fine.

My 38 tooth was perfect in Whistler, but as for the Shore, I've never ridden there, although I've heard that two rings with a guide is perfect.

anything from 32-40 would be just fine, for more shore stuf, i might suggest a 32, but i think a 36 or 38 provides a good middle ground with a 11-34 cassett

If you have dual rings, especially 36/22 use it. Truthfully you don't really need (or want) to go much faster that you can with a 36 to 40 tooth at Whistler.
