OK, I am not here (posting at least) these busy days, but I do remember some talk a while ago about a trip to Ray's Indoor MTB park for some time for this winter.

Any interest still in this, especially from my NY sisters and bretheren? Gotta plan the days off ASAP!

We did February last year and it was good. I'm planning on that again, though may try for a day earlier in the season. The week before Old Pueblo was not the best idea last year.

That place is funny.

I think I'll go to Phoenix instead...
You guys in the southwest have it too good.

But you really shouldn't sh!t-talk Ray's until you've seen it firsthand. There's a reason everyone who goes there comes away absolutely blown away by how fun it is.

That places looks sweet. I agree with Babs in that I would probably brake my collarbone or something there.

I wonder how many hours away it is. I'm about an hour from the PA border. I stayed in Cleveland over a year ago and hotels are cheap! Only thing that bugs me is that smoking is still allowed in restaurants.

If I wanted to ride a BMX bike, I'll go to a BMX park/track. If I want to mountain bike, I'll go to the mountains and ride a trail. It's that easy. I don't own a BMX bike and have not owned one since a BMX bike was a Schwinn StingRay, stipped down with motorcycle handlebars, a ten speed saddle and knobby tires. Silly rabbit, Trix are for kids. Ain't nuthin' like the real thing...

That statement right there shows you have no idea what Ray's is about. There are a million guys like you, guys who think you live in mountain bike Mecca, who think the crusty trails you ride are so much better than the rooty junk we have up here, who will never venture out of their backyard because they think it's the be-all end-all of mountain biking. I've ridden your trails, and yeah they're fun, but if you think that's the best riding, you have much to learn grasshopper... your "mountains" are pretty insignificant compared to, say, the Alps I rode in last year. It's all relative, and it's too bad for you that you are choosing to go through life with your holier-than-thou narrow vision of what's fun.

Echo, your point is good, but I have come to find out that he has ridden our rocky root infested Western PA trails! I am not sure he has seen the weather that necessitates a fun indoor stunt area (or the gloominess of winters in this area), but he has a luxury of being able to pick and choose from some prime spots (usually with good weather to boot) within the same driving distance as we are from Rays....

I like the idea of being able to plan a ride in advance and know that the weather will always be the same "Nice and Dry inside!"

I ride year round, hell last year on Superbowl Sunday we started our ride at 29degrees out and finished 3.5 hours later and had dropped to 27 (if I remember correctly) but at that point you are really just riding, you aren't able to pull much technical stuff, so Rays is a great place to supplement the regular riding, and be able to keep our technical riding abilities in tip top shape!

Actually I know that, he has probably ridden at least as many places as I have, but that post just sounded so dickish I decided to respond in kind.

IAB - you would be fine...afterall, I survived the foam pit and I rocked the sport course when I went there!
Cleveland is a nine hour drive for us. That's a long drive. It might be doable if we were able to throw a Cedar Point trip into the mix, but I doubt that park is open in the winter.
