Up and early.
Latté to start the day

Bailed on yesterday's ride to do some carpentry. It was warm and sunny enough to break out the table saw. I miss having a garage.

Pondering the purchase of some A2 brakes for the fatbike. Hayes won't ship with USPS. :(

The brakes sure get some good reviews. I was surprised by the strange quality control including fit and finish

kind of want to take the kids and head out on a carribean all-inclusive for february break. expenses be damned
antigua is nice, however the resort we stayed at was adults only
We stayed at a nice place in Jamaica, but it also was adults only. TBH, @Sandwich - you should get your inlaws to come watch the kids for a week and you should go to an adult-only all-inclusive in the Caribbean. :brows: :D

back in the salt pit. at least perfume lady isn't here today so I can squat in my favourite spot.

decent weekend overall. best winter weather we've had in recent memory. not too cold, and good snow coverage. youngest boy had nordic ski races all weekend, so I almost didn't get to get out there, but I made it work. Late on sunday afternoon I went for an adventure ski. followed some tracks on some frozen ponds and got (almost) lost in the frozen wilderness. it was magnificent. A buddy of mine has explored these ponds a lot and taken us on them once (or twice maybe?). I figured I'd eventually pop out somewhere I recognized. But nope. I had an idea that I was heading in the wrong direction (wanted to head south-west and was going south-south-east). Good thing I could just follow my tracks and double back. These pond skipping loops might just be the best thing about nordic skiing in the North East.

Hey. Skied Keystone yesterday and had a blast. Skiing Breckenridge today. Wife's back is jacked up so I'll try my best to talk her into some blue and green trails but she is stubborn.
I hope you're going to wave before you hit the Kansas flats as you drive back down I-70 towards DIA?

may have to reconsider my hot tub plans and instead go get Thai food for lunch (+ picking up takeout for dinner for the family)

yes, yes, that sounds good. I should actually work in earnest for a bit to get caught up before I go on my journey

Morning Monkeys.

So I'm 3 weeks into my "fitness plan" and decided to weigh myself since I hadn't since I started. Turns out I gained 9 pounds.

Decided I need to pay attention to my caloric intake because it seems I'd been lacking in moderation. I should be moving in the right direction from now on at around 2500 calories. Sometimes it really sucks, though. It's the start of Girl Scout Cookie season and shit.

I have no idea where I am
Last night right before going to bed I googled an old friend whom I had lost touch with. Last time I saw him was a few years ago when he came by the studio. We kept meaning to catch up at some point. He died last month. I had no idea. 63 years old. Feeling sad today. RIP Tim.

Follow up with orthopedic surgeon on the shoulder this morning. Four months ago I was told I was probably going to need multiple surgeries. Today he cleared me to return to doing stupid shit with no surgery required. Although this has sucked enough that I may wait for warmer weather to do dumb shit.

rolled into work for a bit. did another tv spot. having "sugar shack" of "good times" fame here is drawing a lot of attention/visitors: https://www.mintmuseum.org/artist-ernie-barness-iconic-masterpiece-the-sugar-shack-now-on-view-at-the-mint-museum/

a few meetings, then reviewing applications for a dept. assistant. trying to schedule some work travel. also trying to schedule dishwasher install. also also trying to figure out where to go for the kiddo's spring break in mid-April. olympic nat'l park? utah area nat'l parks? costa rica? ???

what's your fitness plan, Dave?
I signed up for an old man 12 week calisthenics plan. The first 3 weeks were 1 on 2 off, the next phase is every other. I had to miss 2 (did them a day late due to conflicts) and it adjusted the schedule, so that's nice. It was $25 and so far seems totally worth it.

Each session is 35 minutes, but I am feeling it today. I think part of that is a couple hours rolling around the skate park, too.
