Merli. if you're near it... Then ride it. I go twice a year. One of the best East Coast rides.
my advice to you: drink scotch until you leave.
I like Moosic better, have you ridden there much? So many nice trails in Carbondale...

I agree about Carbondale. But since Tussey Mountain is closer to home and not in Scranton I usually push on and go there... Moosic is cool though... I like that both places have Wegmans....

my parents live about 15 minutes away from Port Jervis near Milford. personally when I am up there i find its easiest to shoot east on i84 to Stewart. Mountain Creek Bike Park is 40 minutes over highpoint down 23. I also go south on 209 to a shuttle spot near stroudsburg. Allamuchy/deerpark/stevens, and kittatiny, have some interesting terrain, but its all back roads getting there, I have never been to moosic, but will try to soon.

with regards to renting a bike, Darkhorse cycles is within riding distance of Stewart trails. i would try speaking with them.
a couple others: mahlon dickerson reservation off 15, just south of sparta. sometimes technical, for every climb there's a solid downhill reward. wawayanda is good too.

I agree, Stewart is going to be the most bang for your time. It's only 35-40min from PJ. Go to Darkhorse Cycles in Montgomery, they'll point ya in the right direction.

I used to live around there. Allamuchy, Wawayanda and Ringwood/Ramapo are good places in NJ fairly nearby. I am familiar with Ramapo the most and it has a lot of good, rocky trails.
Also, you can do some decent hiking in High Point and in the Delaware Water Gap. I have done some backpacking and hiking in those areas (mostly the AT sections, but some other stuff too). The DE water gap is particularly nice.

Cunningham state park in Queens is fun if you just need a quick ride and/or like jumps.
Kittatinny, Ninham, Malon Dixon, Graham Hills Reservation, Skyline top lot (Gamp Glen Cray Side), Jungle Habitat. Highbridge is pretty fun too.
