I might be going to the Independence Bowl in lovely downtown Shreveport (to see South Carolina beat the crap out of my Missouri Tigers). This game is going to be brutal ... a talented offensive mind (Spurrier) against a brain-dead moron (Pinkel).

Should I throw my money away on this trip?

We've got a group headed to the Orange Bowl. Tickets are getting expensive though $300+ each on ebay and waiting out the Alumni/season ticket holder lottery is torcherous.

I feel sorry for whomever is relagated to our local Indy Bowl...

If your team is playing here then your season must have sucked.

Bwahahaha, if only that were true. This was a pretty decent year by Missouri football standards. Heck, any season where the Tigers make it to a bowl is a good season!

(Gawd, my team sucks).

I do know that some teams have turned down the Indy Bowl in the past... :p:p:p

Everyone I have tried to talk into going down the Independence bowl has turned me down too. Funny how that works.

I wish I could afford to attend Central Florida's bowl game...They got invited to the Hawaii bowl which would be a great time. Football and beaches, would rule!

Too bad they are going to get destroyed by Nevada.

HA! I thought for sure we'd (the Gators) were gonna end up in the Independence Bowl. Luckily we got the Outback bowl. Not that it is better persay, but it is in Tampa which will make the game a home game for UF :)

And what happened last time the Gators played Iowa in the Outback?

I think the outback should be called the "Letdown" bowl. Both teams were gunning for a 10-1 type season and both were disappointments this year.

Are you from Shreveport?

I may be able to talk Ms. DNA into driving down there if there are sufficient other things to do (like museums, aquariums, gardens, whatever boring educational places).

Ton's in Houston. SA is like an hour and a half south of Austin. i wish there'd be a bowl game here in Austin. it doesn't seem like there are any substantial sporting events at DKR 'cept the occasional high school state championship game. actually...hmmm Midland Lee and Odessa Permian...i believe that was a state game.

I'm a USC fan, so I've seen my share of bowl games. (before that, I was a buckeye fan - saw a few more then.)

I'm going to the Rose Bowl if I can score me some tickets. (This would be my 4th Rose Bowl)

Seriously, I need some help here. Is there ANY reason to go to Shreveport other than the bowl game? I have a sceptical significant other that needs to be convinced that we should go.

We have 5 casinos if that is your bag.

You can bike a couple of kick ass trails and I can show you or hook you up with a trail guide if I am outta town at that time.

Dude, you aren't helping here. I need to be able to pass along stuff like "they have the cutest little downtown area."

There is "shopping"... some women like that.

Yeah Ruston is about an hour and 15 min from here... however, a much better trail can be ridden a lot closer in at the Monkey Trail and you can see some real monkeys at Chimp Haven which the MTB trail surrounds.

Now that is MONEY!

Ms. DNA spent some time in Central America studying monkeys and a chance to see some apes might be enough to get her back on a mt. bike. Now if only I can talk her into getting rid of that stupid rack on the back of her bike...

And the MTB trail is better than Ruston in every way.

D00d!

I called your cell but you must be in the nether regions of western Arkansas... so no service. Hit my cell # when you get into town. I'll tell you where to go for the best ass-kickin' margaritas.

And as it turns out, I WILL be in town this week. :dancing:

We will ride the Monkey Trail!
