hey GI3N,
I'm from lexington kentucky about an hour south of Cincy. Is there any good riding up in your area that would be worth the drive from lexington?

Mass ohio people on the monkey these days (well comparatively). I'm from Columbus, but go to school in Cincinnati, right now I'm living in Boston. One of my friends worked at a pretty cool shop in Dayton I will ask him what the name of it is. I think there are a few trails in Dayton I will have to ask said friend the name though. Ceasars Creek is also not too far away. If you are willing to travel a bit the best trails in Ohio would probably be:

Mohican State park (20ish miles of singletrack and two short but fun dh runs) which is probably two hours north on 71 from you.

Vultures knob is the most tech riding in Ohio I think and they have a super d and downhill course, but its in the Cleveland area so that would be a trek.

The ohio race series OMBC does mainly xc but a few dh races every year. Good group and a lot of fun.

Finally in the winter it is moutain biker law that every rider make the pilgramidge to Rays MTB park in Cleveland the worlds only indoor mtb specific bike park.

There is a lot more riding all over the place and new trails popping up all the time. Here are two general Ohio links.

Most of the stuff up in this are is more XC oriented CORA doesnt like stunts on their trails. Ceasars Creek could be an awesome place to freeride but its just lots of tough climbs. Are there any good places down your way? i heard there was some places in Louisville? Not sure about Lexington though?

no there isn't much down here in the way of freeriding. I ride cave run lake pretty often but its really not freeride at all. Though there are some pretty technical and rough descents.
I've heard that near Louisville there is some good stuff like you said. Apparently one place has a pretty nice dual salom course and another has a good downhill run, but I havn't managed to make it there to give it a go (nor do I even remember where it was).

Yeah I'm in Columbus for the next couple years. Favorite XC-ish wise are definitely Mohican to the north and Great Seal to the south. Lake Hope is nice too.

Not much in the way of freeride stuff but I am stoked to get up to Ray's a few times this winter.

And regarding the original question, I buy most of my bike gear online here. There aren't many decent shops in Columbus, except for roadie/commuter stuff.

p.s. I go by Particle on TGR and Spokejunkies
