Howdy! Cold, so staying in most of today. The girls are making cookies and I'm doing chores around the house.
I took Friday off so that Haley could get in one last track day before her kart leaves for Tucson. We dropped the tools off at the shop after spending a few hours at the track in a brisk, windy, 40* day. She has her first national level race in two weeks, which should be fun. While we were there, Greg told us that he is trying to get the national championship race for another series held at the track later this year. He really wants Haley to race that. It's the class up of the same motor that she raced last year, so she wouldn't be "starting over" with a new type of kart. Given it's her home track, she knows that motor already, and the field is reasonably sized (25-30 kids), she will likely be a competitor. Wifey is also getting more and more onboard with the races. When I told her about this new potential race, she asked more about the dates, rather than asking why we're looking at a race class that Haley was specifically not put into. Still nervous about it, but getting there.
Hannah will be starting with our local swim team next month. She hasn't been in the pool in over 2-months, but still jumped in and killed it. She forgot how to do butterfly, but they didn't really care given where she's at for her age. So now we're at gymnastics and swim, practicing for soccer at home, and wanting to do basketball once the season starts again. She's getting pretty vocal about not having her own kart though...
The difference with how these two prefer their sports is interesting though. They both prefer individual sports, but Hannah can integrate well with other team members. Haley however has always preferred the super aggressive, high risk, solo sports (mtb, skiing, karting). Hannah prefers "normal" sports that her friends from school play too. It's just always been interesting to watch.
