no need for that, I injure myself on a regular basis!

So you all going to actually "run" at the start?
i have a knee injury, doc says no running! seriously. i really mean it... very serious medical condition...not that i'll be using that as an excuse should i not be able to finish...really.

Does anyone know how the 24 hr race interacts with the XC race that will be held on sunday? Are they different courses?

Same course....if it was like last year there will be very few 24 hour riders still on the course.

I'm not to sure how good of an idea this is.

From their website

The X-Country is a competition held on a circuit course consisting of wooded trails, fields, unpaved roads, obstacles consisting of roots, rocks, streams, steep inclines and descents testing a racer strength and technical ability. The X-Country Challenge will use the same course as the 24.12.6 race. The only difference is that the timing and scoring tent will be in a different location.

The X-Country Challenge race consists of a certain number of laps to complete and the winner is the one that completes it in the quickest time.
Beginner...2 laps
Sport...3 Laps
Expert...4 Laps
Pro...5 Laps
The number of laps is subject to change according to race day weather and course conditions. Final number of laps will be determined by the USAC official on race day.

Hey, Mert & Mogulskr and Lynette......it was fun hanging/camping with you all!!!

...and you might not know it, but you all did motivate to keep riding when I was ready to call it a day only 2.5 hours in

Doug it was good to meet you and mert and hang out for a little bit. My race went as well as could be expected for not being on a bike for most of the year. I wanted 10 laps and ended with 9 at around 10:30.

A few obervations.

1. doug and mert are nuts. mert on a single speed and doug on a 1x9. We never got a chance to ride together because neither one of them could ride SLOW enough.

2. Sidi dominators are great shoes. I got a pair for Christmas and only rode about 10 miles with them. I had them on my feet for 10 1/2 hours and my feet never hurt once.

3. Every racer on the course was supportive when they blew by me going up those fricken' hills.

4. Riding in 80 degrees is much nicer then 100 degrees.

5. Baggies might not be the ideal outfit for 12 hour racing.

I got to give big props to those monkies that do 24 hour solos because 12 is hard enough, I can't imagine 24.

Big thanks to lynette, mogulskr, and douglas for letting me share their camp space:cheers: . I really don't know what i would have done without a space to set up and hang out at in between laps, not to mention the conversation and motivation to keep on riding.

i wasn't able to really make my goal of 10 laps as i'd already had 12hrs of fun, and decided to call it a day, then realized i'd only been riding about 8hrs:poster_oops:

i'm just hoping that one of the other racers quit riding before me so i'm not DFL:biggrin:

blah, so if I got my lazy ass to do just one more lap at 10 (instead of calling it) I would have jumped into 8th place.

AND the worst part is I got to the bar at 10:30, and they said sorry we already did last call / we decided to close at 11:00...

Sweet! I crushed that dude!:happydance:

Splatt! the local paper used some of your pics from last year for the paper on saturday, and the pic of me crossing the start/finish under the ballons with my fist pumping in the air(probably finishing my first lap actually) made the above the fold center 1/3 of the paper!
