More than 2,000 Hub cops will share in a $16.5 million windfall as part of a settlement between the city and the police union to end a nine-year dispute over lucrative Boston Housing Authority patrols.
The deal between the Boston Police Patrolmens Association and Mayor Thomas M. Menino formally ends a contentious rift over the citys 1994 move to award the patrols to the former Boston Municipal Police force, rather than Boston Police Department officers.
