@Inclag
I watched that Cedric vid the other night. Struck me as #Straigtedge mtb wildguy from 90s discusses Drugkz 1111. OMG!
Anecdotes aside the video seemed lacking any actual substance for me.
How much has Cedric done Coke?
How much time have you spent straight in the company of a bunch of Coke heads?
Cedric is correct. Yes Cocaine certainly makes you feel like "THE MAN". and Yes. focus will be increased. but IMO judgement is impaired so finding the correct balance is not all that easy. Especially if you're a Coke head. ;)
so as for actually improving results in something as physical/technical/mentally demanding/complicated as DH racing? maybe for some.. (Just like with many drugs it doesn't even effect everyone in the same way)

So... erm... Debatable - ad infinitum

But... yeah. on the other hand... ???

Missed the point.

Paraphrased

- A long time ago at Les Gets, he was having dinner with his team and one of his teammates (a well known person in MTB) took something akin to adderall. He had another mate who stopped doing downhill not long after who was with them.

Sounds like Team Volvo Cannondale @ Les Gets 1999 DH/DS world cup - Gracia, Engstrom, & Lopes.

Pretty sure both Cadel Evans & Tinker Juarez were on the XC side of things, but don't think that Les Gets hosted an XC event then.

Pretty sure Missy, Monkdawg and Miles would have handed BLs ass to him in any bongshed... and you don't see folk calling them dicks every time their name comes up.

You don't think annoyingly fast talking, full of himself multiple mountainbike champion Brian Lopes has ADHD tendencies then? (ie. What the drug is prescribed for?)

I'm calling out Lopes as the likely adderall suspect, assuming it was from Gracia's Volvo/Cannondale days and not the Sunn days.

Something akin to adderal - Amphetamine. Not much difference.
I assume it would be an amazing help in 4x an DH.

I just listened to spomer's interview of Lopes on the Vital podcast.

I can't say I learned anything new about him, other than what I suspected, which is that he's just a dude, with a specific skill, trying to exploit that skill to make a living. Kinda like everyone else. He did seem pretty guarded, and maybe a bit of a tightwad, but that doesn't discount people from being good people.

I do kind of wish Spomer gave him a chance to asnwer for this
It's lame he said that, but it's 5 and a half years ago. Is this really still his view?
He explained the whole parking thing, and I can understand that. But this... was only 5 years ago. You don't really change much going from 39 to 45... I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, and maybe it was not understanding how permanent what you say on social media is, and maybe being a bit tone-deaf too. But from Spomer's interview I got a sense that he's a pretty conservative guy, very set in his ways, and for him there's a right way and a wrong way. which would mean that that tweet came from the heart, rather than from the mind...

in the end, I don't know why I even cared enough type all this out. I'm not a fan, but not a detractor. Same with the bike brand. if others are, then great.

on the other hand, that podcast is really good. Spomer's on to a good thing, and he's a good interviewer. I hope he keeps it up. I really liked the Eliot Jackson interview.
