I've been working on some jumps since late May, basically solo with some help here and there from some friends and today I stumbled across a broken down car wreck in the middle of the run in. Its rusted and probably easily 20 years old and someone actually towed it with a 4x4 up a 50 metre hill out from the forest and parked it there. I've had people poach jumps, wreck them, smash beer bottles, litter etc etc. but I'm thinking that since these jumps are really in the middle of nowhere (away from any drunk teenagers or whatnot) that some one really wants these jumps gone.
My first thought was just to build a jump over the wreck or build around it, but really if they want to destroy the jumps theres not much I can do to stop them. The jumps are in a field near a hydro line but are well out of the way so I'm not really sure why the hydro people would get all pissed off about this given that there are miles and miles of mtb trails including some north shore stuff around. I'm wondering about what actually happens to a spot if legit people (hydro, construction, or forestry people) actually want to shut it down. Do they leave a notice, somehow let you know or would it just get plowed right off the bat? I mean it could just be vandals but what kind of a**hole goes through all that work to screw with someones jumps, as this place isnt exactly accessible. It's not practical to chain them because there are other public trails running through by them and I'd like to be their all the time but I can't.
This is kinda minor compared to some of the BS I've read about on previous threads but it is a great location with access to water and I want to make sure this is done properly for the long term. Any advice or past experience would be cool.
