"The cycling world will find out in June whether Alberto Contador will be able to defend his Tour de France title in July or whether he will be banned after testing positive for clenbuterol at last year’s race. In the meantime, the Spaniard is in limbo, busy preparing for a second confident assault on the Giro d’Italia but unsure if success there might ultimately be taken away from him along with that third Tour win. He admits that he seriously contemplated quitting the sport altogether. “You start questioning yourself, being put on the spot and end up devastated.”</p><p>
But now, thanks largely to the response he’s received from fans, he’s determined to press on and seek out a place in cycling history no matter what fate June brings."</p><p>
