Question for TLD MOTOCROSS helmet users

Hey guys, I wear a 6 7/8 or so hat. I hear that the TLD MOTOCROSS helmets fit a little snug. I wore an MTB one that Seplavy had and it crushed my jaw so much that I had a headache.

Do these helmets run small? Any sizing recommendations? There are lots of options, I just wonder if I should follow their sizing guidelines or go bigger.

Any help/ guidance is appreciated

Thanks

Dave

The BEST way to do it is to try one on in person. I wouldn't go from a TLD MTB helmet for reference. A helmet is such a personal fit thing....definately go search out ones to try on first.

I've been pretty comfortable in mine. I wear a Large in every helmet I try on and the TLD is no exception. The face mask does sit a little close to my mouth, but I wear a Vigor helmet for DH and their face mask is like a mile long. I guess the lids do fit a little snug at first but my pads seem to have packed out a tiny bike in the month I've had the helmet.

You need a huge helmet to fit around that freakish brain of yours!
I guess that's what you get for being born on 3-Mile Island...no wonder you like islands so much...

Dave, we've got the same hat size and I just bought the small TLD SE moto helmet. I've worn it for two full days. At first it was pretty tight around my cheeks, but now it just fits snug. The full face does sit a little closer to your face than some helmets, but I think it helps give you great visibility. Another nice thing about the helmet is that, even as a small, a full sized goggle fits no problem and stays put (at least my Smiths do, and I think they are about the same as any other full size goggles).

So far I think it's the best helmet that I've owned (compared to Bell, HJC and Fox - all moto). Really light, stays pretty cool, excellent visibility and looks awesome. PM me if you have any questions.

Ha, that's funny. I also just got a small, thought it was too tight at first, wore it for two rides and now its perfect.
I used the chart at the bottom of this page to figure out my size: http://troyleedesigns.com/products/helmets/se/web.htm
Like I said, when I first tried it on, I immediately thought of swapping it out for a medium, but all it is is that the cheek pads run a little thick at first. Once they pack down a bit, it's all good.

dave ive been trying to call you all day but weve been in no mans land as far as cell phone service goes since about 4 am this morning.

I got the Large Moto Helmet. I wore the M/L D2 and when I first got the Moto Helmet it fit pretty bad. Within about 5 minutes the foam reshaped a touch and now if fits exactly like my D2 (which was awesome) I dont remember the D2 being uncomfortable when I first put it on though? I have a somewhat odd shaped head and the way the padding was arranged it just felt alittle wierd. It now fits perfectly snug and feels awesome!
