Few weeks ago went to my first CORBA trail maintenance, not sure exactly what to expect & just wore shorts, tank top, old fingerless bike gloves. Most everybody else was dressed to the hilt! Long pants, long sleeves, thick full leather gloves, gators, Jeez it seemed like they planning to jump into Poison Oak. Well, the day turned out to be pretty warm and soon most were peeling off the jackets & all were soon sweating up pretty good. I must admit, my legs did get a few small scratches and I was covered with dirt, and a few times I could of used full finger gloves, but I never felt overheated & many people drank all their water & had to rest quite a bit in the shade...
So, now that National Trail Day's is this weekend, I'm wondering if I should "Dress-up" and look the part? (Maybe have shorts, tank top underneath?) I understand that a lot of this depends on the area & trail that will be worked on, the weather, and what specific type of work is going to be done, I guess it's better to be prepared & I can always remove clothing if it gets warm. Other than water, and a lunch for myself I don't want to bring a hamper full of clothes to be hanging off bushes a 1/2 mile away from where I’m working.

If you dress warmly you get a better workout. It's like riding a heavy bike, as so many of us do. :D

I'm glad I wear pants to trail maintenance because my arms and legs are scratch free and I wouldn't want to ruin that.

for the most part just be comfy that is the main key i used to do trail work or brush clearing on a daily basis and i wore full leather gloves and t-shirt and shorts ( all uniform supply by the way ) but the who key is just wear what you think that you will need and what will be approriate for the weather conditions. thats about it.

the key to life is comfort.

When I go, which I have to admit is not as much as I should, I just wear what I ride in. Lyca pants with denium baggie shorts, jersey, & gloves.

don't joke about that. i work for my dad cutting trees; today i cut my leg open (not badly thank God) with a chainsaw. it now has 4 stitches and a web of tape and bandaging around it. it's not particularly funny IMO.

Idaho (no really!)
:joking mode off: I hear that. That's why I wear the kevlar chaps. Sucks at 95 degrees but is much better than bleeding out when you nick your femoral artery

Glad to hear you got away with only 4 stiches.
