My sons is 8 years old, he will be 9 in a few weeks. He would really like to get into some kind of racing on his mountain bike. Is there somewhere we can go to watch a race like this, or possibly get him in one? I looked around at a few sites, but I am not sure what I am looking for. He would be up for almost any kind of racing; ie. downhill, trail, or track I am sure. Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks for the post. I read it and he sounds knowledgeable about it. Hopefully, he will see this. I also checked out southridgeusa.com. They told me that he can race DH or XC there. I might go and check them out. He is also a competitive swimmer, so we don't have a lot of time. He makes a heck of a triathlon athlete though.
You're welcome. Did you send him a private message? That would be much better than hoping he sees this thread. That stuff might change when he starts to do downhill.
