I think they have 2, maybe 3, road courses that they race on during the year and sometimes the teams bring in 'ringers' with more extensive road course experience for those races.
Oddly enough, the road courses are why I have a little respect for Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart.
How cool would F1 be if they made them closed wheel so they could nudge and bump in turns. Having open wheels is the biggest reason they don't pass that much. Touch another car and you're 30 feet in the air instantly.
If you guys get a chance you should give it (karting) a shot, they'll out accelerate (shifter kart:0-60:low to flat 3's) and out corner (3g's) a Ferrari. However shifter karts are more of an american phenomenon. Europe is all about single gear direct drive (really teaches momentum conservation).
