"I recently blew up the rear wheel, and am getting a new set up. I am going with a hope hub and a 32 hole syncros dpm rim. I was wondering if the 32 hole set up will hold up to downhill/freeriding abuse if properly built, or if i should not take any chances and go with the 36 hole. I have a pretty smooth riding style due to many years on the hardtail, and am outgrowing my jump casing stage (although that means it's time to go bigger )"

get it bulit buy a pro and use the best spokes you can get your hands on(and nipple lock) and it should hold up, but if you're dirt dumping, doing realy heavy FR/DH stuff or just have bad luck, i'ld stick with the 36H. ( then again, i fall into all three of those catagolrys (sp) esp. the bad luck one.)

I'm not familiar with that syncros rim, but with most DH rims I notice very little if any strength difference between a 32 and 36. So much so that all my DH wheels are 32, and all the ones we build for pros are 32.
