Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk
Survivor by Chuck Palahniuk
Life of Pi
Death of Vishnu
1984
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas - Hunter S. Thompson
Rum Diaries- Hunter S. Thompson
Heartbreaking Work of A Staggering Genius
the Trial- Franz Kafka

I have heard that these books are really good-
House of Leaves
Chemical Pink
We have similar tastes in books, at least authors. I just read all of Palahniuks stuff except the last one, am currently reading Kafka's Amerika and a copy of Fear and Loathing has been on the back of every toilet in every place I've lived in since I first read it in college. Some one just told me to pick up the Rum Diaries the other day.

I myself am into military books, fiction or non-fiction. Reguardless of wether or not you're into military related reading, I highly reccomend Tim O'Brien books.

The Things They Carried deals with a lot of different aspects of the vietnam war, all from point of view of an infantry soldier, but much of the story takes place at home in the u.s., and the books ends up being a very intellectual and deep book rather than blood and guts.

I read all Tim O'brien books, that is my favorite though.

I have so many more books like that, let me know if you want any others.

For some really excellent fluff, read anything by Carl Hiaasen. Very good novels with excellent and very funny characters. They aren't thought-provoking by any means but if you like them, you'll want to read 'em all.

I will second all the recommendations for Chuck Palahniuk.

Although, I would rate Lullaby at the bottom of the list.

Survivor is a good place to start
Choke is also great
Invisible Monsters (soon to be a movie) is probably my favorite, but you have to be used to his style to get how cool it is.
Fight Club and Lullaby are good, but I found Lullaby a little slow.
Diary is the latest of the bunch and also really good, but also written from the female perspective like Invisible Monsters.

Also if you get the urge check out Charles Bukowski - Post Office is a great read.

Didnt like Dunces that much, the dude just made me mad.

Have you read Jitterbug Perf... or half asleep in frog paj? I like Robbins' stuff, always funny, deep, and poetic in a T. Robbins sor of way.

Lamb : The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal

by Christopher Moore

Hands down the funniest book I've ever read.
I just finished this.

I cannot recommend it enough. Brilliant, funny, enjoyable, rewarding read.

Did anyone relate Bartholomew to the Emperor of San Francisco from other Moore books?

I've also read by Moore:
-- A Dirty Job, loved it
-- You Suck, loved it
-- Practical Demonkeeping, pretty good
-- Coyote Blue, sucked balls
-- Island of Sequined Nuns, didn't get half-way done

Next up will be the prequel to You Suck, eventho I know what's gonna happen.

I thoroughly enjoyed Lamb; rewarding is a surprisingly great word to describe of the book. Which of the two would you suggest I read next?
To be honest, I haven't read You Suck (yet), but I did recently finish A Dirty Job and it was hilarious. It provided more than one, crazy guy on the bus laughing to himself moments.

Thanks! Funny, as I was the crazy guy laughing on the plane. All the better because my copy looked EXACTLY like the bible.

"You Suck" is actually book 2, I forgot the name of book 1, but I'd read that before YS. While I loved it, I enjoyed "A Dirty Job" even more.
