Bruschetta is bomb.
Hmm, I think I can come up with a few that would at least match it :D

One of the few beautiful things about visiting southern France frequently (got a client there), is that I get to fly in my own cheese. The selection down there is huge, and the quality is great.
Last time my entire checked in baggage on the way home, was cheese and other eatable stuff.

That's pretty much what I do.

I never send my personal stuff along as checked in baggage, as the statistics have been pretty bad, on it actually getting there and back, without either being lost or delayed.
I have to stop by in either Charles De Gaulle or Shiphol, both places seem to loose stuff at an alarming rate (in my case a bit more than 30% of the cases).
So I usually pick up a box and a roll of adhesive tape from my clients stock. That way I don't have to worry about loosing a suitcase as well :D

Fact remains though, that the surrender monkeys do have outstanding food.

Don't want to air the laundry here. I feel like I already soiled myself over at PB in the refugee thread there. If anyone needs to catch up it is all there.

Like it here and never going back.

Tones, Magura, Mazukea, Big Terry welcome and stay around. Tones make sure you check the what NSFW is before you post any pics, seriously.

Unfortunately, I cannot do the same when coming back to US from EU. The border salami militia confiscates anything that might taste even a fraction of bacon better than the local produce. If you smuggle and get caught, the penalties can be stiff.

Did you ever get caught and have to pay? My Nanna from England had all of her chocolate confiscated.

But there are allowable import amounts for personal consumption...right?
I am not talking about duties but about restricted goods. Anything food related beyond trivial candy gets confiscated whether for personal consumption or not. A friend of mine was fined multiple hundies for smuggling a pound of hard Hungarian salami (not for the act of smuggling but for a perjury...).

A friend of mine paid a hefty fine once. I always declare everything down to individual candy bars, it is not worth the hassle and I would risk losing my green card if caught. Wife and I once went overseas for a hiking trip and we brought some instant noodles with us. We forgot about them, brought them back to the US in a bag. She was limping after a leg injury, border patrol cop picked her "because of her suspicious body language", raided her bag, found the noodles and started hell. The only thing that saved us was the fact it was a US produce with a local grocery store price tag still on it. Regardless, he held us on the side for over 30 minutes, shouting all kinds of accusations. Yep, he got that right, we were noodle terrorists indeed!

I kind of find it a good thing to be harassed at the border though, you know what standards to expect later especially when coming from much less policed countries in Europe.

The solution: Sending yourself presents from Europe, with Donald Duck as the sender ;)
Some will get caught, but some will sure fly under the radar.

It's OK, you do not speak English. You speak American and that my friend is the language of I don't give a rats ass and what you going to do about it.

You just upped the challenge. :D
LOL! Other than my hubby, the only other living creature that gets a piece of my panties is my dog Ernie. He is a dirty old man and digs them out of the hamper to chew, swallow, and ralph up at some ungodly hour in the morning :D
