If the DU Bushings are shot then the reducers will just fall out or be easy to remove by hand. The correct way to remove and install DU Bushings is with a tool not a socket. Using the socket method might yield you short term sucess but will provide you with moments of utter frustration when the DU Bushing folds in on itself. You can purchase one of my Bushing Tools and DU Bushings.
Here are some pictures of my bushing tools and a picture of what happens to a DU Bushing using the socket method.
If you're taking out bushings to replace them, then you don't need to worry about them warping a bit. If you can't afford or get a bushing tool, the socket works well if it's the right size. Also, a vice helps either way.
I like DIY as much as the next guy, but just buy the freakin tool! Compared to the cost of your FS bike, the tool is nothing. Sockets are a pain in the neck even if you have a vise.
