You may recognize this as the June edition of our monthly mailout, because that's exactly what it is! We've summarized some of the key things that went on in June, and given you a glimpse at what's to come in July. Enjoy.
---

June – In its official capacity, summer has arrived. Unfortunately for Ridemonkeys everywhere from North Dakota to British Columbia, the sunny season remains somewhat elusive. As we write this, black abysses of moisture are closing in around us, about to drench the trails in with a blanket of rain. Fortunately for us, riding in the rain is a true delight; slipping over roots and searching desperately for traction, we love every second of this fight for control. But if your trails are dry and skies are sunny, you are the object of our envy! Here is the June edition of the Ridemonkey mailout, letting you know what’s up in the world of two wheels.

Bikemag.com Podium

The World Cup season chunders on, as does the hotly contested FMB World Tour. You can follow along every step of the way on the Podium section of Bikemag.com, where the results for each event are tabulated and calculated, recorded and dissected. For now, coming into this weekend’s Mont Sainte Anne World Cup, Aaron Gwin leads the points race, while Greg Minnaar, Gee Atherton, and a score of youth are nipping at his heels.

The FMB tour continues to impress, providing tight competition in its second year of existence. For now, French rider Yannick Granieri leads the way with Sam Pilgrim in second and favorite Brandon Semenuk close behind in third. With Crankworx on the way, it will be interesting to see who is willing to step up their game and fight for that number one spot, and who is content to rest on their laurels.

Crankworx

We’re headed back to Crankworx this year, and we will be there for all the events and running through the pits like mad men. Last year our coverage was among the most comprehensive on the web, so remember to stay tuned to Ridemonkey for all the updates. Will Gee be able to repeat in Dual Slalom? Is Brian Lopes’ reign of terror on Air DH finally over? Can Brandon Semenuk finally win his hometown slopestyle? Time will tell, and when it does you can be certain that Ridemonkey will relay the message.

The News

Over that past month we’ve had some great content on the news page, including a comprehensive preview of the 2012 Shimano XT line courtesy of Bike. In other news, Whistler local Mason Mashon and resident Brit Callum Jelley dropped by with their thoughts on the bike park opening with a lovely piece, while we had some awesome coverage from Leogang by Fraser Britton. On the opinionated side of things, we got deep about doping in cycling and asked for your thoughts, and SecondBase Films provided a great behind the scenes piece on their shoot with Stevie Smith. July promises to be a busy month on the news page as well, hope you’re looking forward to it as much as we are!
