no $hit, I owned a Boxxer with Ti Nitride and slippery silver. I meant they will eventually end up with one that actually works and stays on the fork.rock shox had a slick coating well before Fox did as the showed in that video with the old SiD
WASSAP WIT DA PLATTEKILL PAJAMA JAMMY JAM?!When Kashima was introduced on Fox forks I read a long article that went into great detail why slippery silver and ti-nitride did not work well for a fork. I am sure someone can find it.
The fukkin internet Nazi's at work here block everything so I can't find $hit. I am able to sneak onto here through I fukkin proxy but can't see any pics or anything. I just get to read all your dumb comments and use my imagination to create mental pictures of sweet bikes and WC riders rocking the latest boozey the clown/8 year old boy pajama kits. However I did manage to see the pic of Sam's alleged carbon fiber time bomb(joking).
Buffalo Mike ruined/ripped/pissed in his boozey the clown outfit so I have no idea what you are talking about.WASSAP WIT DA PLATTEKILL PAJAMA JAMMY JAM?!
BoonSwoggle!BOINGBOINKBOINGLE!
Sweet... Good to see they are already trying new things with the 2010 Boxxer, since the 06-09 Boxxer's were virtually unchanged.
Corrected for you.Peaty's signature Fender IS FUGGIN GHEY
This is Rockshox we're talking about - who needs R&D or even background reading when there are THOUSANDS of customers out there willing to do your field testing for you AND pay for the privilege?unless they are doing something special, I wouldn't be surprise if the DLC coating chips easily like the Silver Slippery did.
They changed the lowers in 08, dampers didn't change whatsoever from 06-09 other than to eventually install the correct size o-rings in the top caps after like three attempts.Except for new dampers and a redesigned chassis that looked almost identical but wasnt.........
it basically said that the kashima coating is pores(sp?), allowing oil to easily adhere to it. basically the same way a piston liner in an engine is honed to reduce friction. also said its stronger than hard ano, but that's not the main advantage of it.When Kashima was introduced on Fox forks I read a long article that went into great detail why slippery silver and ti-nitride did not work well for a fork. I am sure someone can find it.
saw the same thing... nooot a good thing and they are brand new !Did anyone notice the DLC stanchions on the maribor videos? They looked horrible, mainly because they were tinges of blue and gold... oil reflections or fading/wear I don't know.
i noticed the oil reflections from the seals and some wear too.oil reflections or fading/wear I don't know.
that is true, but what you didnt mention is that while DLC is on the lowers, Kashima is lining the inside of the uppers. It comes stock on KX motocross bikes and they wouldn't do that if it didn't last.
So if it was that super bad, they wouldn't done this coating for on their Boxxer stanchionsThe new glass-like DLC coating on the upper tubes of the latest BlackBox Racing project for the continued development of the Rock Shox Boxxers.
Hahahahahahaha, dont worry Lee, "Trekrules" is a fantastic example of captain obvious/e engineer extroadinaire.I love how much some of you think you can figure out as fact just looking at some pictures and listening to a couple sound bites.
That DHR is smoking, loved that model too, but prefer to ride the last of that gen, though 1.5HT would have been niceOh, the black finish was hot. But you just had to make sure it was paired with the right dress and boots. I still miss this bike:
That's probably just black ano.Looks like the same coating is being used on the new Vivid air shock? [course total e-speculation here? lol.
DLC coating is a glass like (amorphous) substance, always has been.Probally they made a DLC coating suited for Alloy stanchions,on the vital vid they mentioned it's a new Glass like DLC coated stanchions.
So if it was that super bad, they wouldn't done this coating for on their Boxxer stanchions
