So this ride was last year, but I came across the pics on my laptop on Sunday, so I had to post 'em.

Connector is a super-fun little singletrack gem in Santa Barbara. It's on the same fireroad climb as Little Pine, only it's like a third of the way up the climb.
Here's Jim on the climb, you can see the trailhead just up on the right.

And here's the sign that lets you know you're there:

This trail has one of the most fun starts I've ridden, a super-fast singletrack through a pretty gorgeous meadow, then up and over the hills in the distance, to drop down again to a river.

Evidence of a sweet ride to come:

Once you get over the other side, this is your view. Santa Barbara is over those mountains in the background.

The ride finishes with a wade across this little river.

Then a couple of miles of road back, but there is a singletrack option about halfway there that really improves the last couple of miles...

I've been there when the water was ice cold, and up to my knees, and I've been there when it's completely dry, and you can ride your bike across the entire width. Most of the time though, you're getting your feet wet, no way around it.

I'd like to thank my buddy Jim (vtjim) for making this a pretty awesome birthday ride last year. I can't wait to ride it again this Thanksgiving!

Holy crap James, that's beautiful!!

Do you know if the Zark is familiar with this area? I'm going to be up in SB over Halloween, and I'd love to check out this trail if possible. Thanks!

Hell yeah he is. I've ridden that trail with Noah many times. It's one of those trails that everyone in SB either knows, or should know about, and yet I've never seen another rider on it. One time I rode it back to back weekends, and my tire tracks were the only ones I saw out there.
It's pretty freaking awesome back there, one of the things I miss the most.
I'm totally riding it over Thanksgiving when I'm in the area visiting friends...

Yeah, it's on the "maybe" list. You know the last time I rode Gridley I ended up in the ER overnight, so it's maybe not the best trail. But we'll see. I'm for sure riding Sycamore in Newbury Park, and Jim would really like to ride Connector, since it's so much damned fun.
I'll be in Oxnard for at least the last half of that week...

Nice post James.

If we handle Thanksgiving right we could get a bunch of rides in, but should really center it around Connector. I was thinking about riding Gridley today but cringe at the the thought of that climb this morning... gonna' find something a bit less grueling.

That was rider error though, not the trail's fault:biggrin:
FYI Connector is in chitty shape right now, very overgrown.
Little Pine, however, is in the best shape in years:banana:
Romero and Jesusita are in kick ass shape too:cheers:
West Fork of Cold Springs is rideable again! First time in two years!

I don't blame the trail, but I am a little gunshy.
Overgrown? That just means it needs to be ridden more! This is a hidden gem in SB that gets overlooked a lot I think.
Sycamore this weekend!
Got some new tires for the Trance on the way...
Hmm, haven't ridden Jesusita in forever. Not in Little Pine shape at the moment though, catalogs/two trade shows have conspired to keep me off of my bike. Back on it now though!
