many loose ball bearing hubs have one of the bearing races integral to the hub shell, so if that pooches, you need a new hub. with sealed bearings, it's new races every time.
The benefits are mainly for the manufacture. The bearing races integral and tough to make to the hub shell itself. much cheaper and easier to use cartridge bearings
I feel like I am benefiting from extended life, ease of maintnence/removel/instalation, and the fact that I don't have to buy a new hub if my race or cup get pitted or scored.
